Vegetation
Coastal areas, or at least periodically flooded, are characterized by the presence of reeds in an area where the water is up to one meter deep. These are highly developed along the western part of the lake where they extend along the shores for hundreds of meters, and also along the ditches. Sometimes they are replaced by reed-bore domestic, more dense and inhospitable for animals.
Around the perimeter of the lake, from about 0.5 to 10 meters deep, is characterized by the presence of algal mats rigid and brittle, gray-green, belonging to the genus Chara. For the massive presence of these algae, the lake of Bolsena has been defined precisely “caracee lake.”
At the bottom of rivers, in the current direction are clearly visible dark masses formed by Brasca crepe, with elongated leaves of dark green color and margin markedly frizz.
