The way Francigena
Europe became a major collector roads, paths and directions, all converging towards the places of pilgrimage. The access road to Rome was assured by the perhaps more important at the time, the way “Francigena” or “Romea” which, coming from the Western Alps and the Rhine region, it was covered for at least seven centuries by kings, emperors, and religious populace . The ViaFrancigena, from Canterbury to Rome, a journey of history, a highway covered in the past by hundreds of thousands of pilgrims to Rome.
