Soriano del Cimino has Etruscan origins, it rose on the remains of the old Surrina Vetus and it is considered as one of the most interesting holiday- places in the
Tuscia. It is located at 510 metres above sea-level, at only 17 km from Viterbo. The village is immersed in a territory whose vegetation is very rich, there are large woodland areas with beeches, oaks and chestnut-trees.
There are finds that testify that the village already existed in the prehistory. In the past it was ruled first by the Etruscans and later by the Romans.
Around the year 1000 it belonged to the Benedictine Monks of St. Silvestro and then to the Guastapane family and to the Pandolfi family. When the latter were charged with heresy, the nephew of
Pope Niccol III, Orso Orsini, entered into possession of it and ordered to built the whole castle (1277-1279).

It is a clear example of Romanesque style structure, built in the 11th century. It is particularly interesting to admire the bas-relief figures.
Palace Chigi-Albani
It was designed by Vignola and built in the 16th century. It is composed of two fundamental parts: the edifice and a fountain, the first was finished in 1700, while the Fountain of the Papaqua, was designed by Vignola and made on the rock.
St. Augustines Church
The building dates back to 1700. On its inside it is possible to admire the frescos by Taddeo Kunz.
St. Eutizios Church
It was built on the remains of an ancient Romanesque temple in the 18th century. On its inside there is a marble place for storing oil, dating back to 1400 and which can be attributed to Andrea Bregno.
