(84,02 square km with 6346 inhabitants: Nepesi)
It is a small village, situated at the foot of the Monti Cimini, at about 37 Km from Viterbo. The territory is of tufaceous nature, the surroundings are rich in
vegetation and particularly in woods. The village is known since the times of the ancient Rome for its mineral carbonic water , known with the name of
Water of NepiÓ. There are some documents which testify the existence of the built Ðup area since three centuries B.C. Like the other towns of the area,
Nepi was founded by the Etruscans. In 936 it was conquered by Veio, by the Romans and became together with Sutri an outpost in defence of the territories.
In the 6th century it is contended between the Goths who stormed with several military initiatives throughout Italy and the Byzantines of General Narsete,
sent by the emperor Justinian to struggle against them. In the 11th century, it started a new phase of life, which will last, uninterrupted until today.
