The small town is located at 13 km from Viterbo, at the foot of the Monti Cimini, in the middle of luxuriant hills, rich in vineyards and olive-groves. It is

famous for its abundant agricultural production, particularly linked to the olive-oil production and as a tourist area thanks to its numerous historical and

artistic resources. It rose with Etruscasn settlements; the Etruscans were attracted particularly by the fertility of the land, the strategic position rather near

also to the sea, and woodland resources from which they could get necessary the wood for their boats. This is the reason why the Romans and the

Etruscans often struggled for Vetralla and it suffered the barbarian invasions. Later Vetralla belonged to the Orsini and since 1345, for about a century,

to the Prefects of Vico.
