It is situated in a territory rich in woods of chestnut trees, vineyards and pasture lands. It seems that the present name originated from the name of Veio,
the powerful Etruscan town, destroyed by the Romans in 396 A.C. , after a war started almost a century before: the fugitives probably moved to
this area and founded a new village . The first families who entered into possession of this area were the Vico and the Anguillara.
Later it came under the ChurchÕs rule and after ups and downs, it fell into the Alfieri familyÕs power up to the present days.
PLACES TO VISIT
St. Marys Church
It was built around 1500 and on its inside there are the relics of St. Orsio, who is also the patron of Veiano.
Baronial castle
The building is cut straight down the red tuff. It has a triangular shape and has a tower at each angle. It is surrounded by walls with fortified posts.
