It is a characteristic small village, whose wonderful historical centre is an interlacement of alleys and small squares. It is immersed in a valley on the eastern
side of the Monti Cimini, rich in chestnut trees. There is no documentary evidence concerning the date of its origins, but there are documents which testify that
the area was already inhabited in the year 1000 B.C. It has always been the object of continuous quarrels between powerful feudatory families and in the
Middle Ages the De Vico family and the Orsini family struggled for it for a long time.
