The small village is located at about 43 km from Viterbo, at 508 metres above sea-level, in the middle of hills rich in woods and vegetation.
The first historical documents date back to the Roman period. In the 11th century it was part of the property of St. Pietro in Tuscia.
In the 13th it was subdued by Orvieto and became a commune. In the 14th century , with cardinal Albornoz, it came into the ChurchÕs possession.
In 1408 the Farnese had the vicarship and took numerous initiatives to make improvements to the small village.

PLACES TO VISIT

The church of St. Rocco

It was probably built around 1400 and it originated as a vow made during the pestilence, that in those years took hundreds of lives.
This is the reason why it was always dedicated to St Rocco, the Patron of plague victims. The church, of small size, has a singular single block altar,
surmounted by a valuable fresco of the saint, who with the index of his right hand, points to a wound on his knee and with a small dog near him.

The church of St. Clemente

It was built under the dominion of the Farnese. It is well kept and houses works of artistic value.

Mediaeval hamlet

It is a typical ancient hamlet , composed of small alleys and characteristic and interesting details in many points.
