At not much more than 500 metres above sea-level, on the southern side of the Monti Cimini, Caprarola is situated on a tufaceous spur, from where
it is possible to enjoy an extraordinary landscape, planes, slight hills and far-reaching lands. It is one of the most charming and characteristic villages near
the lake. Caprarola is the first producer of hazelnuts in Latium and probably in Italy. Tangible traces, proved by historical finds, date back to 1330,
when the Vico family , with the widow of Peter V, entered into possession of the area and gave rise to a period of violence and ferocity.
PLACES TO VISIT
Palace Farnese
The famous edifice, designed by Vignola, was built by order of cardinal Alessandro Farnese, between 1559 and 1575, on the foundations of a fortress with pentagonal shape. Started by Sangallo, it is a five- storey palace and expands around a circular courtyard.
St. Thereses church
It was built in the 16th century. The Virgin of rare and delicate design ,on the main altar, work that can be attributed to Guido Reni ,is worthy of praise.

The building dates back to the second half of the 16th century and inside there are some frescos of that period.
The cathedral
On its inside, on the right-hand altar there is particularly interesting 15th century panel. While on the high altar it is possible to admire a work painted on canvas, by Francesco Cozza and dating back to 17th century , representing the Virgin with the Infant Jesus.
