(52,28 square km with 7227 inhabitants: Ronciglionesi)

It is located at about 20 km from Viterbo at 442 metres above sea-level; thanks to its particular geographical position, between the Monti Cimini, some

hills and the basin of the Lake of Vico, surrounded by Mount Fogliano and Mount Venere, it offers a particularly suggestive spectacle.

The surrounding territory is rich in woods and vegetation which make the landscape even more suggestive. The hamlet is of Etruscan origin, but had a very

difficult period during the barbarian invasions and later became part of the Roman dukedom. For about four centuries it was ruled by the Vico

family and as proof of this period there are numerous finds and historical documents like the ruins of the castle and the church of St. Lucy. At the end of 1400 the

county of Ronciglione came into the Churchs possession and under Pope Paul III Farnese , it became the capital of the feud, which included also Castro.

Later Ronciglione became the seat of the Dukes Farnese and during this period knew the splendours of the Humanism and of the Renaissance.
