(40,74 square km with 4476 inhabitants: Capranesi)
It is located at about 30 km from Viterbo in a particularly tranquil position that makes it a sought-after holiday-place. It is famous for its mineral spring .
The village has Etruscan origins and later became a Roman station. Longobard kings gave it as a present to the Church and it became the seat of Papal
garrison troops. During the Roman period Capranica was an important place along the Via Cassia. Its position on the Consular road was an important
strategic factor during the Middle Ages as well.
